Country-Specific Activities
A unique approach for each country
The PanAfGeo+ programme includes country-specific operational activities that deliver practical support to national partners through defined technical actions, capacity development and equipment.
Democratic Republic of Congo
Technical assistance to build staff capacity, equip and operationalise the national geoscientific database, carry out geological surveys in priority zones, and support mineral assessments for industrial and artisanal mining, including mining waste recycling.
Namibia
Market and value-chain studies on critical raw materials, training on beneficiation, remote sensing and data management, support to project promotion and EU–Namibia research and business networking, and provision of geoscience equipment with associated training.
Republic of South Africa
Delivery of technical training, development of data harmonisation guidelines, and establishment of workflows for geoscientific data production and interpretation related to critical raw materials, offshore mapping and carbon capture and storage, including inputs to a national CRM strategy.
Rwanda
Technical support for geological hazards monitoring, including volcanic, seismic and landslide risk assessment, development of early-warning concepts, and capacity building for national institutions and communities, alongside support for mine tailings assessment, mineral recovery and environmentally responsible artisanal and small-scale mining practices.
Tanzania
Capacity building for critical raw materials data acquisition, evaluation and management, including geological, geochemical and geophysical surveys, data digitisation and governance, UNFC classification, CRM market and value-chain analysis, and training to strengthen investment-ready geoscientific datasets.
Uganda
Geological surveys and mineral resource assessments in priority areas, including geological mapping, geochemical and geophysical investigations, drilling and prospect evaluation, combined with laboratory upgrading, staff training and support for responsible mining and mineral investment promotion.
Zambia
Capacity building for geological mapping, mineral resource assessment and geodata management, including training in modern exploration techniques, data harmonisation and digitisation, strengthening analytical capabilities, and support for sustainable mining practices and investment-oriented resource governance.
